Hello World!#

I’m Adrian Manea, mathematician, teacher and freelance writer, in no particular order.

Tutoring, Speaking, Courses & Workshops#

In October 2023, I started Poligon Educational, an educational platform which I use for private tutoring, courses, and workshops.

I teach high school and college Mathematics and Physics as private lessons, and organize courses on mathematics, its history and philosophy, aimed at the general public.

Currently, the website and the information therein are in Romanian only, but I do teach international students and have spoken to international audiences as well. So do get in touch should you have any question or interest in my activity.

Writing#

My personal blog and newsletter you can subscribe to is The Gradient.

I write on popular science topics, book reviews, technology, history and philosophy of science, and STEM education.

Since January 2024, some of my essays have appeared in the Romanian magazines Dilema, Mindcraft Stories, and Școala9.

Teaching#

Between 2013 and 2026 I taught various mathematics seminars at the University of Bucharest and at the National University of Science and Technology “Politehnica” of Bucharest, where I covered real and complex analysis, linear algebra, statistics and probability theory, as well as cryptography and data visualization using Python.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I have uploaded all my materials on YouTube and notes.

They are all in Romanian.

Academic#

As a mathematician, I have a PhD. degree since 2016, with a thesis which uses homological methods to study certain types of noncommutative algebras.

Here are my publications in peer-reviewed journals:

  • On Koszulity of Finite Graded Posets (with Dragoș Ștefan), J. Algebra Appl. 16, 1750139 (2017), 20 pages.
  • The Ext Ring of a Koszul Ring, Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. Roumanie, Tome 59 (107), No. 1, 2016, pp. 51-63.
  • Further Properties and Applications of Koszul Pairs (with Dragoș Ștefan), SIGMA 12 (2016), 092, 24 pages.

I’ve also published an academic article in philosophy of science:

  • The Technically Manifolded (Classical and Quantum) Space Ontology, Society and Politics, Vol. 11, No. 1, 2017, pp. 91-93

and I’ve been an academic advisor for the Romanian translation of Albert László Barabási’s book Linked: The New Science of Networks (Perseus 2002 for the original, Brumar 2017 for the translation by Marius Cosmeanu).
